BSGcast: Interview with Alessandro Juliani
Thanks to the miracle of DragonCon, Nat had the chance to sit down with Alessandro Juliani, the multi-talented Canadian actor behind her favourite character, Lt. Felix Gaeta. Find out what he had to say about the finale (SPOILER WARNINGS!), the mutiny arc and get a glimpse into the mystique of the man… the MAN-stique.
P.S. We’ll be posting our review of the Season 4.5 box set as soon as we’ve put up the last two interviews from Dragon*Con… one with Michael Trucco and one with a Battlestar actor who is ALSO playing a character in Caprica…

This was a great interview. Gaeta was one of my favorite characters too and it was great to hear AJ talk about him.

Nat, you’re interviewing prowess just continues to evolve every time you do another interview! Thanks guys for providing us such an interesting inlet to the actors and the show from their prospective.
I must admit that Gaeta wasn’t my favorite, however, his popularity kind of grew on me over time. Especially during the Season 3 into 4/4.5 time frame. I wish that scene he said got cut hadn’t been as I believe that would have really put a defining tone on the moment the mutiny occurred. It must be very hard for him, Kandyse and Nicki to have been away from the finale. I can only imagine the lingering stinging feeling of not being there when CUT was yelled for the last time.
AJ seems very content with his accomplishments on the show as well he should be. He took a very secondary character and got to mature it into a primary character by the show’s end.
Thanks again for the interview, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Excellent job as always! I’m glad to hear from AJ, especially his thoughts on the finale, which is interesting as Gaeta didn’t last to the end as the others did. But still, great job on the interview and I cannot wait to see what comes next.

Excellent interview! Gaeta was certainly one of my favorite characters in the show, and AJ himself is such a talented actor. Did you know he was in Watchmen (director’s cut, not theatrical)? Albeit it was a small one line role, but it was such a cool cameo!

Excellent – thank you.
Love AJ! Love you Ron! Love you BSG! You too Matt and Nat!

Yes. Love Gaeta, great supporting character, and one of my favs to be a cylon back before we knew who the fifth was. I think he became cool character to me around the time of ‘Final Cut’, he really made me apreaciate how important the supporting characters are in fleshing out the world.
I liked his ending too; everyone sayshow awesome it was that in the finale eache character got their moment – Gaeta didn’t get a moment, he got an ARC!
Loving these little interviews guys, waiting with baited breath for the review of The Plan and Capricast.
So Say We All,
Frak Yeah!

I see a pattern in the past few weeks, interview everyone that died in or just before the finale. Laura Roslin, Gaeta, Dualla, and Anders.
AJ got the darkest ending of all the characters in season four. His ending is sad when you consider he got there by trying to do the right thing.
Less than a month until The Plan. Between that and getting my fix here I’m getting excited about BSG again!

He has one of the most complicated characters in terms of the evolution of his along the series. From friendly, to double agent (friendly to the colonial above all) to “friendly” but with a radical way of thinking he could resolve the working-with-cylons problem. That’s what I really liked about the character
On the other hand, i had the chance to see him at DragonCon…cool guy. All i can say is I like A.Juliani, but hated Gaeta at the end (for his betrayal, although he thought he did it for the best of the fleet). I think he did a good job in the show
