BSGcast 3.12 – “Taking a Break…”
It’s going to be a long 2 weeks with no new episodes of BSG until February 11, but we can help fill the void: Matt + Nat are going to be doing a special “Theory” only videoblog next week, bringing together some old an new ideas of where the series is going. So drop us some comments and let us know what you think is happening in the world of Battlestar Galactica, we’ll feature your ideas as well as our own!
And a special shout out to our “Fan of the Week” this week, Matt from Georgia. Check out his profile on MySpace by clicking here.
Of course, you can still catch Matt + Nat dishing BSG all over YouTube, MySpace and Veoh.com, and if you leave your comments on any of those sites, we’ll be reading them there too!

Ok, so theories….. hmmmmm….
Ok, Theories. The 13th colony is the cylon god. Humans are the chosen people that reject god’s plan. Baltar is Jon the Baptist paving the way for the messiah not Jesus. Hera is “Jesus”, savior of them all. Which makes Athena, the virgin Mary . And the people of earth are the gentiles who will either receive or reject the messiah.
And by the way. You guys are awesome!

First, I’d like to nominate my friend Dan as Fan of the Week. He has zero time. He’s a grad student, a sign language interpretor, a psychologist, and he has to take measly jobs answering phones and shelving books to put food on the table. He still finds time to watch every new episode, and dish about it with me. He is utterly in love with Laura Roslin; when she was stalking down the hall screaming “YOU! AIRLOCK! NOW!” this past week he had a Roslin-gasm and almost turned straight. We have callsigns for when we text each other. His is Psycho, because he’s studying psychiatry.
If you pick him I can get you pictures and his livejournal URL.
Now. Theories. Or at least questions.
Do the Final Five resurrect? If they do… where? If there are spare bodies lying around the Resurrection Ship, you’d think Xena-bot could have found them on her own. Done a bit of inventory and wondered why there were several dozen Will Adama’s lying around. I believe they can resurrect, and I believe that people who are part of the ‘final five’ have died, but it can’t be on the resurrection ship.
Twelve Lords of Kobol; Twelve Human Models. Coincidence? Only if the writers suck. Let’s draw some comparisons:
Aphrodite: Is anyone going to refute me that it’s 6?
Athena: Judging by her call-sign I’m going with model 8.
Hera: 3. A domineering bitch if ever I’ve seen one. And I have.
Hades: Father Cylon. His solution to any problem is to simply decimate the human population to something more manageable.
Hephaestus: The Chief is a perfect match for the Smith God but I just don’t buy it. Perhaps Simon? The doctor to a bunch of skinjobs could be considered a smith.
Poseidon: Leoben is obsessed with rivers. That’s all I’ve got.
Apollo: Apollo? Though he had a verifiable childhood.
Dionysus: God of Wine. One of the Tighs. Dunno which I think it is.
Artemis: I’m going Starbuck. No verifiable childhood. Strange visions of the future. Incredible luck, or is it? Obviously a sleeper, if she is.
Hermes: That PR guy, I don’t bother remembering his name.
Ares: Uh. Anders? Would explain how a basketball player suddenly turned expert guerilla warrior. Besides, Ares was always depicted as being ruled by his emotions, as is Anders.
Zeus: This is where I put Gayta. The ruler of all, hiding as the useful guy who isn’t very highly ranked but always seems to be somewhere he can be the crucial thumb on the scales at the right moment. He maintains the balance of power on New Caprica, his slip of the tongue just happens to save his life while he still looks noble in Collaborators, his ‘need to talk’ to Gaius happens to save his life, and then when he goes to kill him, somehow he doesn’t manage to do it. A military guy first misses this HUGE artery, then just calmly sits there until someone shows up to stop him? No way he was seriously trying to kill Baltar.
Kay I’ve gone on too long. VOTE DAN FOR FAN OF THE WEEK! He deserves it.

Dee is a Cylon. She survived the Cylon boarding party. Was romantically involved with Presidents aid and the Son of the commander of the fleet. Both have power or access to power. Classic Cylon behavior. She’s gonna do some major misdeeds at the end of this season. I say Starbuck is revealed in the next season as a Cylon, but not this one.

We need to go back over the episode with the cylon plague. Unless they pull some kind of, final five immune to it kind of deal, none of those pilots are cylons. Except possibly for women who have given birth.
I’m voting Cally is a Cylon. She’s given birth to a hybrid, which makes her immune to the disease though I don’t recall if she was ever near it. You could also make the rather specious case that Xenabot was ’sorry’ to have put her name on the ‘to be killed’ list.

i think anders has the potential to be a cylon. starbuck is a descendent of the original 13th colony and something of a prophet.
oooh the chaos that could cause – where does her allegiance lie. husband or human race?
would starbuck and anders represent a new beginning where they find earth under a new cylon / human alliance? or is that just too neat n tidy!?

First of all, thanks so much guys. We’re so thrilled that you’re enjoying the show so far and that you’re submitting your theories. These are fantastic!
OH and as for everyone’s input on who they think are cylons (Dee, Anders, Cally etc.) Matt and I are thinking about dedicating part of the segment to theories about cylon candidates and discussing WHY or WHY NOT they could be cylons. I’m so excited!
Amanda – I love that you brought this up because that’s a parallel I have definitely drawn while watching the show, with how prominent certain judeo-christian stories/characters are within the Battlestar Galactica Universe.
Satsuki – Hahaha wow your friend Dan definitely sounds like someone we would like to show as Fan of the Week, possibly specifically for the fact that he has Roslin-gasms LOL
As for your theories, I hear you on the idea that the Final Five MUST resurrect somewhere else, or else one of the models we already know about would’ve undoubtedly bumped into the spare bodies laying around. However the question is WHERE do they resurrect, OR DO they even resurrect? I mean as far as we know, they haven’t ever died since they were created, right?
And as for the parallels between the cylons and the pantheon of Gods, Matt and I have been working on something like that. We also find it too convenient that there are 12 Lords of Kobol and 12 cylon models and then the 12 colonies (astrological symbols) (well Earth being the 13th). It HAS to all link in together, and that’s definitely something we’ll be exploring more in this week’s episode.
Thanks for your thoughts guys!
So say we all!
