I can’t believe that I wont be able to make it!! I should just quit my job instead of working that weekend. This party and auction looks awesome. I checked out the Auction Network website and for all of us who cant make it looks like we can register online and either place bids in advance or bid live while its going on.
Here is the link I found:

  2. Grandkaijudomaster Says:

Gah it’s a sucky day to live in Britain and not have enough money to travel to LA -.- Me wants to go to frak-party!!! Anyway I’m new to the boards but I’ve been watching BSGcast for quite a while now and I’m a big fan of you guys, so hi Matt and Natt! ^^

    Anyway theory time *serious face*:

I was watching escape velocity the other day, and idea came to my head. Baltar never truly did reveal the results of Ellen Tighs cylon-detector test, and I don’t know wether or not Ron Moore otherwise but let’s say the results were she WAS a Cylon.

2 possibilities comes to mind, I hope this hasn’t been done before or I’m gonna feel like a fraking idiot:

    1. She is an aged version of the Model-6 Cylon? A sleeper agent with sub-programming to take orders from Cavil? Hence why she betrayed the resistance?

I hope that this is the case, because it means that Tigh might find happiness again with his relationship with Caprica-6 in the coming season. The baby the two of them are having is clearly important as it means the clyons have finally achieved their ambition of cylon-cylon biological reproduction.

    2. She is the final cylon.

I personally hope that isn’t the case as it would be slightly anticlimatic given that it has been hinted that she is a Cylon since season 1. Although it would make D’annas apology to the final five make sense. If she knew about Ellens death and how Cavil and the other Cylons made her betray the resistance it would make her indirectly responsible for the death i guess. Although personally I think D’annas apology was either to Anders (for trying to shoot him back in Season 2), or to Tigh (for the eye thing).

    Wow, long rant is long.

  3. Adalla Says:

Awesome :) I booked my ticket. See ya all there :)

  4. Isaac Says:

Is there going to be any entrance or cover charge for the Frak Party?

  5. Shayna (greycoupon) Says:

I’ll be there. Will the party be at the host hotel?

Have you invited Michael Trucco? He lives in LA and has attended at least one fan screening in the past.

  6. BSGcast Says:

Since we’ve got to cover the cost of renting the space, we’ll be asking for a $20-ish donation from people at the door. If you’ve got it, then we love you, if you don’t… well, then you don’t. It’s several thousand bucks coming out of our pockets, so the more help we can get to throw this kick-ass party, the happier we’ll be!

What did you guys think of the first webisode? We enjoyed the setting, but the plot seems pretty rehashed “Oh no, we had the wrong emergency jump co-oridinates” has been done before… and we were hoping for more post-Earth trauma! But it’s hard to complain about more BSG!

    ~Matt

  7. Adam Says:

Yeah ya know, it’s weird that it’s 9 days after getting to Earth but we don’t see earth once. Not in orbit…not in the background…and it looks like the Galactica is in transit…not orbit. The webisode definitely has a rehashed quality but I’m sure after a few it’ll make sense…

As for the $20 donation? If I can I’ll pay more when you see me! It’ll be worth it!

  8. John Says:

    Give with the details! LOL
    Where will the party be?
    What are the hours?
    What’s the attire?
    Inquiring minds and all….

  9. Shiver Says:

Being a poor student living in the UK has some hefty downsides occasionally…
About the webisode though, interesting stuff. Mainly the fact that the other Cylons appear to have found Earth, or the Fleet at least, within three days of Galactica. Bit odd when you think that it took a magical Viper and four of the Final Five for the Fleet to find it in the first place.
Also, about time Gaeda got some action (as the only main character to date that hasn’t). Hoshi for final Cylon?

  10. Tom Byrnes Says:

Hi guys im living in the Uk and so wont be able to make it to the frack party but i did just see this
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yyFxU3ZtV-A
Its 4 mins of brand new bsg, the first of a series of webisodes, !!!!!!!

i dont really want to say anthing untill you guys have seen it but holy frack what the hells up?

  11. TRON82 Says:

    Hey there, Matt & Nat!

Thanks again for that much needed 411 and I really hope to see you both on Jan. 16th in Pasadena, baby!!!! Should be an awesome time for all who can make it. The $20 donation is very reasonable, especially considering the $$$ you guys are shelling out for this event. Maaaan, I seriously hope more BSG alumni will be able to show up. It’s always been such a treat living in the L.A. area. I’ve been fortunate to have met and bumped into lots of famous people over the years, which is a definite perk, what can I say? ;)

As far as the webisodes are concerned, uhh…yeah. Been there. Done that. But as was previously mentioned, I’m hoping everything will tie together.

Matt, remember when I said that I felt that Kendra Shaw is the 5th? Well, I’m having doubts now. How about you? Still hanging on to that theory? Well, not to be a fickle or anything, but I’m starting to think it might turn out to be William Adama or Baltar. I know, I know! Way too anticlimatic at this point, but then that would explain Baltar being able to see Head Six and would explain the whole need for redemption thing and all that. Adama being the 5th would indeed be a shocker since there would indeed have a lot of ’splaining to do!

Hey, anybody have any thoughts on the mini-series? I was recently watching it again and I’m curious, who did Number Six speak to at the Market Place? She said something like, “It’s about time you showed up.” Who the FRAK was she talking to??!! Any thoughts?

  12. Gareth Says:

    Matt… where’d you get the t-shirt!?

  13. Pedda Says:

While you’re talking about Jan 16th and 17th here, the Facebook event page says the party ends Jan 18th, 5pm. Could you please tell whether there’ll be anything on Sunday, too?

  14. Stu Says:

Hi. I haven’t attended any of the Frak Parties before, but this sounds like fun. Out of curiosity, what kind of setup do you guys have planned for the episode screenings, ie: will this be projected or on a television?

  15. BSGcast Says:

Good question, Stu, we’ve got a 10-foot projector screen and an HD projector that we’ll be showing the episodes on! Just like last time!

Pedda, We’ll probably be watching episodes until pretty late, and then all going out together until the wee hours… so technically it’ll be over on the 18th :)

And Gareth, you can get the SAVE BALTAR T-Shirt in the BSGcast Swag section of BSGcast.com right here: http://www.bsgcast.com/bsgcast-swag/

Thanks for the questions, and keep ‘em comin!

    ~Matt + Nat

  16. Kymba Says:

Does anybody happen to know if confirmed BSGCast attendees need a copy of the auction book to get into the Propworx preview? TIA.

  17. hoop Says:

Would it be worth it to take two sick days, travel across the country(fully coast to coast) and go to the frak party? My heart says “Yes, be among your people whom you’ve never met!”, but the brain says..”go to work you dumbass!”

    Arrgghh!

  18. Adam Says:

    *Sigh*

    That’s all I got…

  19. jim Says:

Well my friends just left from picking up there son at Parris Island after completing Boot camp. My word held even with the temptation of going to LA to see you guys. I do hope you enjoy it and the warm weather.
    Jim

  20. Ben Says:

WHOA! That episode was FRAKKING AWESOME.

  21. MariaSunderland Says:

I can only IMAGINE how you guys handled and watched that episode in Pasadena!

That episode was INTENSE! I watched it with my boyfriend and we squealed like little girls at everything! (Well I am a girl, so it was a little awkward on his side of the couch ;) ) Once the moment with Dee passed we just screamed out! Same with that awesome scene between Adama and Tigh (which cuts in the middle for a commercial O_O So much SUSPENSE!)

And congrats to anyone who had figured out who the 5th Cylon was ;) I have a theory of my own about it however, but I don’t want to post any spoilers just yet, out of respect for anyone who has yet to watch it tonight. I had had some thoughts about the 5th, but frankly I had someone completely different in mind as my number 1 lol

Still… gosh… this was an emotionally packaged chef-d’oeuvre!

  22. DarthRazorback Says:

There is just so much to say about this episode… I think I will watch it twenty times before analyzing it here.

  23. TRON82 Says:

o_O Wow. Awesome episode. Wow. So much of the scenes were executed brilliantly. Blew me away.

    Scenes that floored me:

    1. Dee’s suicide. (Didn’t really see that coming)
    2. Leoben freaking out and backing away from Starbuck.
    3. Adama and Tigh. (Need I say more?)
    4. Starbuck burning her own body.
    5. Tigh realizing that his wife is the FC.

Just read a recent interview given by RDM to Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune where he says that he and his team of writers didn’t really consider Ellen being the FC until around Season 3. But how does that explain all of the very STRONG hints and suggestions in the Season One ep, “Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down” that *really* point to Ellen being a Cylon? I think they considered her being “something” a lot earlier than they thought.

In any case, great, great episode. Can’t wait to see the final 9. :D

  24. nathan s. Says:

scenes that floored me, Apollo’s genocide of 35,686 humans from the fleet. well according to teh black board he did, apollo wipes the 1 off of the end of the whiteboard population count and instead of putting a 0 to show the loss of duala, he gets distracted by kara, so instead of there now being 39,650 people left there are now 3,965 men women and children. so here is to apollo for successfully killing the largest amount of people, only second to the cylons (the actual cylons not us, though i feel a, “were all cylons” moment coming soon).

  25. Shiver Says:

Holy crap. My jaw dropped about three minutes in, and didn’t quite recover until about 5 minutes after the end.
    13th Tribe?
    Starbuck?
    Dee?!
    Ellen?
    Holy crap.

  26. Signa Jade Says:

I don’t think that in 6 months of kicking around all these ideas that we ever once came near to proposing anything nearly as compelling as this. That is the mark of a great show. That is why I love this show.

  27. Tootie Says:

    Hmmmm. Wow. Wow. Wow. Hmmmmmm.
    Bombshells everywhere.

I think Ellen as the final is both genius and a terrible let down. Now that we know it’s her and she’s gone a long time ago, the final cylon thing ceases to matter and what matters is what will happen now between good cylons, humans and Cavil’s group. So, a huge amount of controversy/media hype/attention was given to the show because of the final cylon identity, but it’s a red herring in itself – it isn’t the point of the final ten (or is it?)….which is genius, beyond genius.

But a let down a bit too…or will it be important?

  28. Shiver Says:

I know what you mean, when they pulled the alt-centurion head out of the ground I thanked the gods of TV for letting something that awesome happen.

  29. Kaybrid Says:

Ellen as the final cylon allows a storyarc that goes back to Season 1. It makes sense on a lot of levels. However, I’m having a hard time jiving it with the prophesy of the Razor Hybrid. The whole howling in terrible suffering thing. Yes, I know she was killed but it wasn’t exactly a fearful or terrible death; she didn’t even know it was coming. And the idea that she was howling in terrible suffering while she was fraking Cavil on New Caprica would be a bit of a letdown. Razor hybrid made it seem as if the final cylon was “still in shadow” AFTER the four came into realization, and now we all know the final cylon was dead BEFORE the four came into realization. The only way this makes some sort of sense is if Ellen is going to come back. Thoughts? please, Matt and Nat, address this in your podcast about this episode.

  30. Matt Says:

I believe Ellen is coming back, as Capria Six’s and Saul’s Kid.

  31. Kaybrid Says:

Yikes! Saul fathers his wife. I guess the howl of terrible suffering is the birthing process, being ripped from the womb and slapped on the bottom? Maybe. Anyway, I’ll let this go. It was a frakking cool episode and I can’t wait to see what else is going to happen.

  32. Frak Me Says:

Going a little off topic, I decided to go back and watch the Miniseries and although it has been stated that they didn’t preplan the final 5 Cylons, I believe they knew Colonel Tigh was going to be one from the start. If you notice while Aaron Doral is giving the tour of Galactica, the only crew member that he acknowledges is Tigh. He paused what he was saying to say hello to him. Doral was also the one who put the cylon beacon in the CIC of Galactica, which was supposed to prevent the Galactica from being wiped out in the initial attack. The only reason I can think of why he would do this is because he knew that 4 of the final five were on board. This leads me to think that Doral has had more intel than the rest of the skin jobs and he will be playing a major role in the episodes to come.

  33. Brian D. Says:

I watched the Miniseries also this week and noticed that Aaron Doral acknoledges Tigh. But, four of the final five were not on board Galactica, only two. Anders was still on Caprica and we don’t know where Tory was during the Miniseries. Also concerning Starbuck being the Harbinger of Death, this is just a theory, but, maybe when she died in Season Three, she went back to the Earth of 2,000 years ago and crashed. When she crashed in one nation, that nation thought another had attacked them. So they retaliated. And so on, in a chain reaction that destroyed Earth. So… that would make Starbuck the Harbinger of Death, but not for the Fleet, but for the Thirteenth Tribe. Just an idea.

  34. MariaSunderland Says:

Brian D: Your idea isn’t bad, but might be a little flawed because of the body Kara found. The body was in the middle of decomposition. If this was the ship that travelled and crashed 2000 years ago, then it would be a skeleton Kara found, and not this decomposing mish-mash with hair (that was gross btw lol).

That episode was just… out there.

Congrats to anyone who had figured Ellen was the 5th. I know it was mentionned by a few earlier.

Dee’s suicide was so unexpected. Both me and my boyfriend screamed when it happened, seriously. When I saw her at the beginning while she was freaking out in the ship going back to Galactica (with Helo comforting her), I thought something would happen with her. I expected her to do something to Hera… Or sabotage something. Instead she seemed to want to cling to hope with Lee at her side… until BLAM! Right there, without anything to prepare us… That was awesome.

The scene with Leoben freaking out really struck me. He not only realized he was wrong, but that Kara’s existence should not be. He was wrong about Earth, the Stream, everything. He’s doubting himself through Kara and now he doesn’t know what to think anymore. I cannot wait to see more development with Leoben now!

The scene between Tigh and Adama was also extremely intense (albeit having Adama walk through a crew that’s falling apart with despair… that was heartbreaking), but it was also nice to see that in the end, Adama put his differences aside to call Tigh a friend once more.

Anyone else sees that Gaeta is about to make a coup d’état to stop this alliance? It also looks as though he’s confronting Kara about it later on. Could this mean she spilled the beans and they believe her to be a cylon? Hm…

  35. Sirslam Says:

Ellen as a final five member makes some sense actually (even though I don’t like it). They were the only married couple — all of the others were single. I was really hoping for Zarek for the ultimate loopback to the original series.

A question for the group: Who do you think will be the last person to be airlocked? I think that will actually be a nice bit of trivia! My money is on Cavil to be the last person airlocked. Who do you think?

  36. DarthRazorback Says:

To anyone who thinks Ellen is somehow not the final Cylon (careful, she gives away a spoiler):

Yes, yes… I know, they lied to us about Starbuck… but that only works once and I believe they would only try it once.

And Ellen is not coming back as Tigh’s kid… are you people out of your frakin’ minds? Thank the GODS none of you are actually writing these shows.

  38. CB2001 Says:

Guys, I know this is going to sound strange…. This may be way out there, in fact I may be wrong…

I think Cavil knew about the planet we’ve seen (the one that may or may not be Earth. Think about it, we still don’t have a whole lot of recognizable features to really say its Earth, so I’ll just refer to it as “the planet we’ve seen”). I think that the planet we’ve seen isn’t “Earth”, but it may be, actually, the Cylon Homeworld from a previous existence. And I think Cavil knew that the Final Five would lead the RTF to it first before leading them to Earth, which is why he was so persistent in keeping the others from not knowing who the Final Five were.

Why? Well… “All of this has happened before, all of it will happen again.” I think that the reason why there are 12 Human Cylon Models is because there were only twelve that survived the attack. “But if there were twelve that survived the attack, why is it that the seven with multiple copies don’t remember it?” Simple: The “Final Five” are the original personalities, capable of downloading into one body at a time. The other Seven are copies of the original Cylons. It’s possible that the original copies of the seven are dead and gone (remember, Cavil mentioned “the original programmers”), thus the memory of what happen is gone… Except for one model: The Cavils. “But Ron Moore said that there wasn’t an original Boomer.” Nope, Ron Moore said that there was no “Human Boomer”. Doesn’t mean that there wasn’t a singular, one copy Cylon that had become what is known as the Model Eight.

Okay, why would the Cavils not want the others to remember? Simple: He was the cause of the destruction of the planet. He may have lead an uprising with the Centurions (to which his reaction about what Natalie did to give the Centurions free thought is explained, because he had knowledge of what would happen if the Centurions had free thought). What would happen if the others found out that he caused the destruction of the Cylon Homeworld of a previous run, practically killing all of their ancestors? The others would pretty much execute all of the Cavils.

“But why would he keep the Final Five from the others?” Because they are the sole survivors of it. They may know that he was the one responsible for the destruction. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprise if it was his idea to attack the 12 Colonies, because he knew that the Final Five was on them somewhere and hoped to kill them (think about it, Anders group was attacked by the Cylons in the “Lay Down Your Burdens” two parter. And a Cavil model was in that group, which indicates that he was the one who relayed the information to the others in hopes that they would kill Anders and the other humans). The Final Five were the only ones who knew that Cavil caused the destruction of the planet we’ve seen in the episodes.

I know its crazy, and I could be wrong. Another possible explanation is actually something that D’anna said in Season 3’s “Exodus, Part 2″: “What would you do if we really just left you here? You’d live our your lives in peace and never trouble yourself with thoughts of us again? Or would you raise your children with stories of the Cylon. The mechanical slaves who once did your bidding only to turn against you. Killers who committed genocide against your race. The occupiers of this city until we just ran away. Would you tell them to tell the story to their children? And to their children’s children? And nurse a dream of vengeance down through the years so that one day they could just go out into the stars and hunt the Cylon once more.” Maybe a previous run’s human race did that, and attacked the planet we see in the episodes and the Cylons were not even aware of the humans from the previous run.

I’m not saying anything I’m saying is true… But just possibilities.

  39. Shauna Says:

    The episode was VERY intense.

I have to agree that Ellen will come back as Cap 6’s & Saul’s child. One of the pictures at the youwillknowthetruth.com website is of an fetus with the Cylon-red backbone.

Dee’s suicide was startling, though the signs were all there. The sudden calmness taking care of the baby. Overly bubbly with Lee. The last clue was looking at the locket and taking her rings off. The sudden placing everything in neat order and being at peace can be signs that a decision has been reached. Still, the way how it happened caught me by surprise.

I, too, am not convinced that this is really Earth. I have yet to see a single landmass from orbit that matches a continental shape. Even if this was 1000’s of years in our future OR past, the continents would be similar to present. Also, there are several stars in our near-space that would have the same background constellations with little to no distortion. If they jump to a system with both a G and a K star, that will almost certainly be Alpha Centauri. That could be where Cavil will be waiting for them.

Starbuck. I think it was at Scifi.com that someone suggested that perhaps there is a bit of regenerative technology left that is still functional. This technology will create a clone/replica. Since she is human, the system cloned a human. The system manufactured a new Viper to replace Kara’s destroyed machine. If Roslyn were to die while “dirt-side,” I would expect expect a human clone of Roslyn to appear in a couple of months.

I am going to predict that, at the end, Galactica and the Rebel Baseship will take on Cavil’s forces with the loss of all combatants. Lee will be on Colonial One with a dying Roslyn as they make one last jump. This jump will bring the rest of the fleet to Earth – the real Earth. Roslyn will die while in sight of Earth, but will never set foot on it. This would be like Moses and the Exodus.

  40. DarthRazorback Says:

    1. Some of you seem to be in denial. It is Earth. It is the Earth we live on now. The 13th tribe were cylons and they found Earth, settled on it, and then destroyed it, for whatever reason.

    2. If Ellen is born as Tigh’s and Six’s baby, I quit. That is so ridiculous that I can’t even pretend I would stick with the show at that point.

    3. Dee!!!!! Nooooo!

  41. COjinx Says:

I’ll second that the notion that Saul and Caprica’s child could be Ellen is a completely ridiculous idea. If Ellen does come back, it will only be because she died before the Ressurection Hub was destroyed. And her being cylon makes sense – they all but waved a flag over her head that said “Cylon!!!” in Season One – with the red Caprica Six dress, assassinating the man Zarek sent to kill Roslin, etc. Roslin and Adama stopped their testing on EVERYONE else just to check up on her, and when Caprica asked if Ellen had passed the cylon-detecting test Baltar refused to answer. There was always a connection between Six and Ellen, from Season One all the way up to the Taul/Caprica hallucinations in 4.0, so I can see where this “Ellen is their baby” business is coming from. But it’s beyond ridiculous. Does that mean Galen and Sharon’s kids are ressurected previously existing cylons also? It’s silly, and more than a bit perverse when you think of Saul being married to his newborn daughter.

The 13th tribe being cylon wasn’t especially shocking… I think a lot of us had suspected it, at least in part because it followed the tribal naming convention : sagitarron, geminon, cylon.

Dee’s suicide shocked me – I didn’t see it coming, at all, until about 5 seconds before it happened. She was always on my list of cylon suspects (which was Dee, Ellen, and Gaeta). So when they showed pictures of her as a kid out of nowhere, and of how she could barely remember ever being that young, I assumed what the producers probably hoped I would assume – that she was the final cylon or a red herring. So when she blew her head off immediately thereafter (once more putting Eight marksmanship to shame) I was really, really startled. She was always so sweet, and I did get a bit teary eyed. At the same time – one more trip on the Lee/Kara/Dualla go-round would have had me holding a gun to MY head.

Anyway, did anyone else think it was weird when, near the beginning, it showed people talking, then the screen went pitch black, and a voice said in a monotone “Baltar confirms it, the planet was nuked about 2000 years ago” and then the picture immediately came back? Bad, bad edit?

Anyway, does thirteen colonies mean there are actually thirteen cylon models? Maybe there IS a final cylon still out there? Anyway, I am satisfied with Ellen. It answers long-unanswered questions about her from the very beginning.

And does cylon and human working together now, instead of as enemies, mean the never-ending cycle of nuking-colonizing-nuking-colonizing can finally end? The end of the line? That’s been kicked around some, but it seems more likely now than ever before.

  42. Shauna Says:

What if it was discovered that Cylons and humanity are genetically linked?

You have one tribe that has incorporated nanotechnology to enhance and extend life. Over time, this tribe evolved to be co-dependant with the technology to where it repairs and updates itself. Eventually, the tribe evolved to become the race known as Cylons. Cylons = cyborgs?

The other tribe rejected this technology, possibly for religious reasons. It takes no stretch of the imagination to see a major conflict arising out of this – just look at our world today! The nuking of the world arose from this conflict and the near-extinction of the parent race.

This led to the diaspera and the planting of the generational, deep-seeded hatred for the other tribe. THEY can’t be trusted! THEY will hunt us down and kill us! WE have to protect ourselves from THEM! This could be the root behind the eternal conflict that has happened before and will happen again. Not humanity vs. machine. Rather, religion vs religion.

As the approaching civil war reaches its climax, Cavil’s baseships will appear and attack the combined fleet. The Rebels and Colonials will realize that this difference is meaningless and join forces to repel Cavil’s attack. The civilian fleet, including members of the Twelve, will jump to another star system while the military engages Cavil’s forces.

Adama, Tigh and Roslin will be in the CinC as the battle reaches its climax. Lee will watch from Colonial One as the Galactica and baseships mutually destroy each other. Just before the shockwave reaches Colonial One, the ship jumps and joins the fleet.

Colonial One will join the fleet as it approaches an Earth-like planet. (Maybe I am in denial, but I still think they haven’t found “our” Earth yet.)

  43. gaseous clay Says:

Ellen being reborn as saul/caprica6’s baby seems ludicrous. does this mean the final four were resurrected the same way, through childbirth? this still doesn’t explain what the deal is with Starbuck either. I dunno. maybe the idea of ellen as the 5th will grow on me but for now it seemed kinda obvious based on her initial introduction into the series. I wish RDM would’ve gone with someone like Adm Cain or Helo

  44. Sam Vagner Says:

I say that Dee not Ellen is our deceased fifth cylon, think about it, Dee seemed drawn to what she found on earth, (like the rest of the five), and she committed suicide after looking at some old pictures of family (if shes the fifth she would of realised they were never real). I agree with what someone said before me about Ellen being an aged six, its a good way to explain how she was on earth, remember, we did get a glimpse of a younger Tigh beforehand it only makes sense then that a younger version of Ellen wasn’t just a figment of his imagination.

  45. Ben Says:

Why would Ellen being reborn as Tigh’s/Six’s baby be ridiculous!? It’s sick and twisted, but hey: this is Battlestar Galactica! Also, it’s obvious that Ellen says “reborn” NOT “resurrected”. I doubt the Final Five can “resurrect” so the Resurrection Hub has no meaning to them. They get born again as a baby and grow up and age to be that very same Cylon when they’re older. That’s definitely the impression I got. And that would be a fantastic way to explain how a Cylon-Cylon are having a child: they’re having a Cylon!

  46. Mario Says:

Ellen is the final. Leave it be. Just ’cause you didn’t want it, let it be. It makes perfect sense, and it places everything all together. As soon as RDM said in the EW interview that Tigh gives a blind eye to someone, it makes logical sense who the last one cylon is. They are not going to trick you with the final cylon, especially in the last ten episodes. Its time for all stories to come to an end. Listen to the podcast version, Dee’s story is done. Six is not a younger Ellen, watch the interview with her on EW after the reveal. Ellen is perfect. The only reason it got hype was because it took eight extra months, and it was because the writer’s strike. It is Earth. Not some other planet, but Earth. They are explaing everything at the end, not trying to complicate it with new stories that we all want so it keeps going. Here is to the end of all things. It will be the darkest path to the end. So say we all!

  47. Ben Says:

    Well said, Mario!

Guys, just wondering, when do you plan on posting the episode discussion and the Frak Party stuff, like interviews. Can’t wait to see ‘em!!!!

  48. theuth Says:

“one more trip on the Lee/Kara/Dualla go-round would have had me holding a gun to MY head.”

    So say we all.

  49. Tootie Says:

Frak Me said “If you notice while Aaron Doral is giving the tour of Galactica, the only crew member that he acknowledges is Tigh. He paused what he was saying to say hello to him.”

he was acknowledging Tighe because he was in command at that point (Adama was off practising his speech)! That is all!

The part that’s sticking with me is how Leoben backed away from her. I felt so sorry for her. She has so far covered it up, but was going to tell Lee?
Can’t wait for next week of course….it’s almost as excruciating as the last 8 months! Tootie

  50. Pavlov's God Says:

WOW an amazing episode that did not disappoint. Questions answers and new questions asked in perfect balance.

Ellen was not my choice for the F5 but it explains why she does so much for Saul. Maybe she slept around for the same reason she slept with Cavel – to protect Saul and put him in the position he is in. When you look at it that way it totally changes how you see her. She changes from a flawed character to a tragic character who sacrifices herself for the person she loves. We still don’t know how Ellen survived the initial attack. Did she die and and it took time for her to download and rejoin the fleet? Maybe we will see a flashback or it will be in “The Plan” movie.

I still think the two characters to watch are Starbuck and Baltar. How does Baltar fit in to helping the cylons. He protected Ellen and Boomer when he tested their blood. He gave the bomb to the six that led the cylons to new caprica. He sees head six. I think his revelation will be more important to the series than finding out who the fifth is. Just an idea but maybe he is the programmer of the cylons which explains why he helps them so often in the series.

My one complaint is I wished they would have not showed so many Dee scenes in the beginning – as soon as they showed her about 3 times I’m told my wife she probably gonna die. And as soon as they showed the picture when she was a kid I really knew she was going to die. A little to obvious but I was shocked how she died – I did not see that coming.

Coolest part for me was seeing the alternate Earth cylons – I would love to see them in action in one of the final five’s flashbacks.

  51. Signa Jade Says:

Okay, here’s an exegesis of the song “All Along the Watchtower” and various thoughts to go with it. Have fun gang. Based on the increasing use of this song in the show, I think it’ll feature prominently for the remaining episodes. I think that it’ll prove to be a key for understanding the earlier destruction of Earth (less guaranteed) and for understanding what is going on now (more guaranteed)

“There must be some kind of way out of here Said the joker to the thief There’s too much confusion I cant get no relief”

Tell me this is not descriptive of the endgame here. It just gets grittier and grittier.

“Businessman they drink my wine Plow men dig my earth None will level on the line Nobody of it is worth Hey hey”

This line is talking about people of power taking advantage of those without power. Direct applicability is not apparent. Maybe cylons and the destruction and overpowering of the colonies. Maybe talking about the domination the colonists are feeling from the Cylons in this show. Maybe it’s descriptive of the totalitarianism of Roslyn of late. It’s certainly not terribly sociopolitical in meaning for this show, though the song seemed to originally have that in mind.

“No reason to get excited The thief he kindly spoke There are many here among us Who feel that life is but a joke but uh But you and I we’ve been through that And this is not our fate So let us not talk falsely now The hours getting late Hey”

(I want the thief to be Romo Lampkin. Can’t just hear his broche growling that out? (I want him to make an appearance again, this time on the side of Zarek. Zarek’s too smart to not court someone like Romo.))

Despair is kicking in the fleet. “Life is but a joke” – Yeah, I’m sure the colonials feel like this is all some cosmic joke right now. Remember Tyrol: “If there is a god, he’s laughing his a** off.” But there’s a claim that this is not what’s going on: “But you and I we’ve been through that And this is not our fate.” So many now think that life is but a joke, but that’s not what is going on.

So, now what? “So let us not talk falsely now The hours getting late” As I said earlier, this sounds much like the peace that was made at the end of Revelations – the end to falsehood and deception, or at least an effort to get there. Times are desperate, too much is at stake, and they can’t keep deceiving anymore and expect to survive. But the line is an exhortation, not a description of what is happening “Let us not talk falsely now” – like people are actually going to speak honestly at this point in the game. Anders’ reference to it is indicative of more not talking falsely (or aspirations to that) in the near future.

“All along the watchtower Princes kept the view While all the women came and went Bare-foot servants to, but huh”

A Watchtower is some kind of tower to watch for incoming danger – it is primarily defensive, but people can shoot arrows etc from it in battle. Who’s watching? Earth? Another planet the 13th tribe went to? Humans who attacked Earth? Members of the fleet? Not likely the fleet, because it’s moving so much, and the closest thing to a ‘watchtower there is dradis – not a convincing explanation.

Women and servants coming and going? Sounds vaguely like Baltar’s sex club, but why the coming and going?

Theory: Women and servants pertaining to head characters (6, Baltar), visions, etc, and they are coming to the various people receiving these visions for as yet unstated reasons. Princes keeping the view from the watchtower pertains to a sophisticated people perhaps, or powerful, or something else maybe, but my guess is that they are the warriors of the 13th tribe, wherever it might be, or a yet to be disclosed race of humans who attacked the 13th tribe. As such, these could be responsible for the signal that activated the four cylons.

“Outside in the cold distance A wild cat did growl”

Methinks that’s the remaining Cylon force.

“Two riders were approachin And the wind began to howl”

Methinks this is the Galactica and the rebel basestar. As they approach, something is beginning to go down.

“All along the watchtower Hear you sing around the watch Gotta beware gotta beware I will”

Interesting ending lines, but likely not crucial to understanding the whole. Caution is necessary – when hasn’t it been! But if I’m right in saying that the watchtower pertains to the 13th tribe, then it’s they that need to beware.

“Hear you sing around the watch…” Interesting line there. What to do with it…

    “Ooh baby”

Obviously this is referring to Hera and Niki. Obviously.

    “All along the watchtower”

  52. Pavlov's God Says:

Check out the second to last photo on the You Will Know the Truth website. It is Kara playing piano with someone – I assume her father. I know a lot of people have had had posts about her father – maybe he is the original programmer – or the cylon god – or the hybrid from Razor. It would tie in the musical aspect of the show since her father was a composer. There have been several references to people and events being like musical notes that fall into place to make music. Initially I thought it kinda looked like eric stotlz which would tie in Caprica but after looking at it some more I’m not so sure now.

As for the Ellen is six’s baby theories – on EW.com there is an interview with the actress that plays ellen and she says Ellen and Saul will have a reunion it gives the impression that the actress that plays Ellen will be back on the series. Plus it will make for awkward TV if Saul is married to a small child.

  53. Ben Says:

Yeah, I saw that, Pavlov’s God. Now, I’m confused as to WHAT Tigh/Six’s baby is. How are they having it?

I cannot freaking wait for next week’s episode, especially since it heavily features Zarek! Also, written AND directed by Ron Moore? This one’s gotta be big.

And, I know this is a plug for me, but whatever. I just made a Battlestar Galactica music video today about the Miniseries-”Resurrection Ship”. I plan on making two more, one for Season 2.5/3, and the other for Season 4 (once it is completed and on DVD). I’d LOVE to hear opinions on it :)

  54. Lexicon Says:

A lot of people keep refering back to Ellen being tested by Baltar in the first series as though that test would have showed her as a Cylon. Remember that Gauis saw the result… so if he knew she was a Cylon all along and he was aware in series 4 that there is only one Cylon unaccounted for would he not put two and two together? He is a genius scientist afterall.

I think it can be assumed that (as has been said on many occasions) The Final Five are different. They cannot be tested and shown as Cylon in the same way that the other seven can be.

  55. DarthRazorback Says:

With respect to the Final Five being different… that cat has already been spilled from the bag. So, Baltar’s test could not have worked on Ellen, or any of the Five, since they…

I just want to say that the charity auction was really superb. And the cast that I met (Michael Hogan, Richard Hatch, Luciana Carro) were friendly and very approachable. Best was meeting Nat and Matt. Superkind and self-effacing people who kept their composure and wits about them even with sleep deprivation! Wonderful job you two.

Here are some photos from the auction for those who want to see some of the props:
    http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=54998&l=8d1f6&id=766225674

  57. Shauna Says:

If you assume that Darth is correct, that leads to some interesting ideas.

The Original 13th tribe was, essentialy, Human.

This would allow the Five to have children among the rest of the human population. What ever nanocybernetic enhancement the Five have would be passed on to within their descendants, but only one copy would be activated at a time. This would prevent an entire race of Tighs, et al, from forming.

The Seven do not have this restriction. Thus, the baseships filled with Six’s, Eight’s, etc.

Perhaps the Seven were constructed to reproduce with the Five, and repopulate the Cylon civilization. (Thus Tigh’s & Six’s baby.) Since the Five are essentially human, the Seven had to be genetically humanoid. This would allow the Seven to also reproduce within the Human population. (Hera)

  58. gaseous clay Says:

I know some of you mentioned the scene between Tigh & Adama as being very powerful and full of emotion, but I must be the only one who actually laughed out loud when Adama threatened to kill himself. “C’mon! Do it….do it…..do it…..or i’ll do it myself!” ROFFLE

  59. Frak Me Says:

Tell me this, if this Cylons that lived on the 13th Colony couldn’t be tested to see if they were infact Cylons then how were all the bones and remains concluded to be Cylons in last week’s episode?

  60. Tootie Says:

I agree that there is NO WAY Baltar knew Ellen was a c and did nothing about it. She didn’t show up as one on his test, end of story.

I also agree with Gaseous Clay – the Tighe/Adama scene was a weak part of the episode and so was Roslyn’s hackneyed grief reaction. I think the writers could have done a lot more there to be original and avoid cliche…like continued the discussion of how Adama figured Tighe was programmed to be his friend and make him laugh…and then saying something like ‘whatever you are, you are still my friend, I need you etc.’ and had them hug each other.

I do agree Caprica’s baby is Ellen. NOT

Question (to add to all the rest): Where did the victors go after they nuked ‘Earth’ 2000 years ago? and who did the nuking? People have suggested they nuked themselves like some kind of civil war, but i’m not sure.

Nathan S. raises an interesting question about Lee taking off 35,686 people through changing the famous number on the board in Roslin’s office. I don’t know if that means Lee will have a hand in wiping out most of the fleet, but it’s an interesting theory.
I think it was an awesome and very original dramatic moment though. He could erase the 1 at the end of the number to reflect Dee’s death, but couldn’t quite finish the job and accept her demise by putting a 0 there. Very original moment.
Dee’s death so eloquently enhanced the feeling of desolation and despair, absolutely brilliant.

Cavil could have Ellen as a captive or something….

Who will stay on Earth and who will go? Will the ones who stay be taken captive by Cavil? Hmmm.

  61. gaseous clay Says:

tootie — i’m probably way off on this but when Starbuck went into the vortex (in season 3) maybe she travelled back 2000 yrs and caused a nuclear explosion that wiped out the inhabitants of Earth. that still doesn’t explain her relatively fresh looking corpse and why we were led to believe she died.

  62. Pavlov's God Says:

Please no time travel in BSG!!!! It is one of the sci fi crutches that RDM would recognize (I hope) as cheesy from Star Trek. I will be very disappointed if that is the case. I agree with gaseous that the corpse was in too good a condition to be that old. Although the 2000 year old rubber ball Dee picked up and Anders’ wooden guitar neck were in pretty good condition.

  63. gaseous clay Says:

well, whatever they do I hope RDM comes up with a good explanation.

  67. TRON82 Says:

Lots of great theories, everyone! :D

As far as Ellen is concerned, go back to the Season One episode, “Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down”. There’s a WHOLE LOT going on with the writers “hinting” that she is a Cylon, than just Baltar’s lame detection test. Like how exactly did she get onto The Rising Star? How come she doesn’t remember how she got off Caprica? Why did Number Six say to Baltar, “there’s something very different (or special) about this one”. Lots of obvious “in-your-face” moments in that ep pointing to Ellen being a Cylon. And considering everything, it all fits. I’m not at all disappointed that Ellen is the FC. Not at all.

My brother and I a while back discussed there being 13 Cylons, since there are 13 Colonies. I actually think there are still only 12 known Cylon models, and Hera is the 13th, in that she bridges the gap, or connects the two together. That’s why she’s so important.
And speaking of Hera, I’m still sticking with Kendra Shaw being a grown-up version of Hera. It just makes sense. Especially since we just found out that certain Cylons can be “reborn”. Think about it: WHY did the Hybrid in “Razor” tell Kendra that he had been watching her “all her life”? What did that mean exactly? WHO IS KENDRA SHAW??! Why would they write an entire episode around that character?

A friend of mine felt vindicated when they discovered that “Earth” (or whatever the heck it is) was occupied by Cylon remains.
He still thinks that EVERYONE IS A CYLON. (”ehh, could be…”)

Okay, these are the questions I’m hoping to get frakkin answered:

    1. Who and WHAT the heck is Starbuck?
    2. Why are the FF so important?
    3. Who is orchestrating all of this madness?
    4. Who *really* is Gaius Baltar?
    5. Did Roslin and Adama do the nasty?

[Okay that last one isn't so important. ;) ]

And we DO see Ellen again, I’m sure of it since I personally don’t think she died back on New Caprica. I think she’s with Cavil and will soon make a very dramatic appearance. If you watch one of the clips on YWKTT, “someone” comes off that Raptor behind a Number 8 that manages to elicit an “Oh my gods” from Roslin. She’s obviously shocked by this “someone’s” appearance, and who else could evoke such a reaction like that? Ellen Tigh.

I say we are in for a lot of shocks and “holy frak” moments. Buckle up, everyone. It’s going to be a bumpy ride. :)

  68. Frak Me Says:

It is possible that she could have traveled back in time. Their space suits are air tight, which would preserve a body fairly well. Even today archeologists find decaying corpses(espicially egyptian mummys) from thousands of years ago that are not just skeletons, but still have flesh on them.

  69. TRON82 Says:

Just finished watching the podcast for “Sometimes A Great Notion”. I’m sad to hear that that episode is not only Kandyse McClure’s last appearance, but it apparently is the last time we see the incredible Lucy Lawless as D’Anna. Really bummed out about both.

Dualla’s sudden and shocking death still resonates with me. Especially after seeing the episode a third time. And the scene with Starbuck burning her own body….whoa. Heavy, heavy stuff. (That scene was brilliantly shot). And RDM promises a lot more of the “heavy” and “very dark”. I’m still catching my breath from the last one. Seems we’re all in for quite a wild ride.

The fact that Ellen is the FC is not at all disappointing. If you read a recent RDM interview with Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan, you’ll understand just WHY he and the writers decided to do this. And again, for those of you still pissin’ and moanin’ that Ellen is the Fifth, please go back and watch Season One’s, “Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down”. That ep is *clearly* hinting that Ellen is a Cylon. It really does make sense when you weigh everything. IMHO the other choices for the FC would not nearly have had that much of an impact or an emotional gut punch. Again, just my opinion. ;)

Questions I still would like answered:

    1. Who and WHAT is Starbuck?
    2. Who is orchestrating this madness?
3 Who *really* IS Gaius Baltar?
    4. What exactly is the Opera House?
    5. Why is the song “All Along the Watchtower” so relevant?
    6. Why is Hera so important?
    7. What did Leoben mean when he whispered “Adama is a Cylon” in Season One?
    8. What exactly are the Hybrids? Who programmed them?
    9. Did Roslin and Adama do the nasty?
    10.Why did Leoben freak out?

I have tons more questions but I’ll stop right there. As far as Ellen Tigh coming back, I totally think she will soon make an appearance. If you check out the clips on YWKTT there’s a scene when they all hurry to meet a Raptor that’s just landed, and as a Number 8 gets out, “someone” comes out behind her (we can assume since the screen goes black) and Roslin says, “Oh my gods…”
I’m pretty sure that’s a reaction to the FC, Ellen Tigh “seemingly” coming back from the dead. But like many have already stated, Ellen probably didn’t die at all and was with one of the Cavils all along.

Can’t wait until next week! :D

(Kandyse McClure….your grace and beauty will indeed by missed!)
