I just watched this: very good! On youtube.com there are some other fans’ videos of the inside of the viper ect. that are fun to see. Thanks for showing us around. It looks like the auction is very well set-up and planned. With plenty of oportunities to see what you want to see. It is interesting seeing all the props in a new setting.

PS, I love your show you guys do a wonderful job.

  2. DarthRazorback Says:

Ryan is a pretty cool cat. :)

I grew up a massive Star Wars fan and of course wanted all the toys when I was a kid. However, as a I grew up, I never got into the whole collecting end of things, like many of my friends did… making up for all the things I could not get when I was younger. However, when I saw the BSG miniseries it was like finding Star Wars again… only better… and in my adulthood. So, seeing you guys standing there next to a Raptor, or Ryan inches from some of the coolest geekenchise EVER… I feel like a jealous little kid!

I so want any of that. My birthday is coming soon and I think I am going to convince those who love me to get me something, ANYTHING from the actual set of BSG.

  3. Signa Jade Says:

Very cool inside look at it all – I’m glad you guys have gotten such an inside look at the auctioning process. I’d always been somewhat aware of how these things happened, but think that the publicity on this one as well as simply the fact that the internet has really matured means that it’s way easier to be able to get in on this stuff. I wish I had money lying around to get something from it all, but I’ve just been dropping money lately on my two cars that both decided to stop working at once – great…

I was impressed with the neat looking setup of it all – I never thought that it would look boring in there, but to actually see how cool the arrangement actually was is fun!

Ryan – I’m glad you got to be one of the people behind the auction! It’s cool seeing you in the flesh. I actually was that random guy who sent you emails with misspellings and minor errors here and there from the first season of BSP – I loved what you are doing, and wanted to help out when I saw I might be able to. Hope school’s treating you all right.

I’m also floored to hear about the actors being really cool about it all – they’ve probably made their share of silly remarks about Trekies in their times (I AM one and I have too), but to have that much fun hanging out with Galacticadicts (is there a better term out there?) is great to hear. I wonder if there are any members of the cast that are trying to distance themselves from the show more than others – has anyone heard anything? I’m just curious. It’s okay – I love them anyways!

  4. DarthRazorback Says:

I don’t think anyone is going to try to distance themselves from BSG. After all, unlike Star Trek and other science fiction shows, BSG is considered high art. So, to be associated with it does not hold the same stigma as did Trek. Plus, this is the century of the geeks. We rule the world.

  5. Pavlov's God Says:

Ryan – great job during the action. I watched a good chunk of it on Sunday. Me and my wife were floored how much some of this stuff went for but it just show how much people love this show and want just a little piece of it. Wonder how much the unearthed cylon head from sometimes a great notion will go for in the next auction.

Universal really should make some prints of the cylon war painting from Adama’s room. I’m sure there is a lot of us who did not have thousands of dollars to spend on it but would love to have one hanging over the fireplace. I have three of the BSG retro propaganda posters framed in my TV room and they look great and that painting would look great with it. If anyone ever has contact with SciFi/Universal marketing maybe you can recommend this. (kara/anders arm tatoos would probably make them some money too)

  6. Cdr. Allen Hohensee Says:

Captain Ryan Keeton, a good close personal friend of mine that I have managed to meet in person several times now. It was an honor to me when he and I were talking and he asked me to pick him up from the LAX Airport to attend this grand event in Pasadena.

I have known Mr. Keeton now going on 2 years and I enjoy every chance I get to talk with him, helping him out with his Battlestar Prometheus Story line and many other projects that I know he has been working on.

Being able to help out Ryan as well as Matt & Nat from BSGCast was also a great honor. Watching the auction and observing the variety of props that were sold and the high value that BSG Fans alike have placed on these items.

Admiral Kane’s Dog Tags sold at 4,800 dollars as an example and the Cylon Head you saw Captain Keeton point out was just one portion of the entire item. It was actually the entire Cylon Centurion suite casted from one of the original molds in the original series. It sold for 18 Thousand Dollars.

Congrats to all whom managed to get their piece of history.

  7. atari_age Says:

The raptor is by far the coolest major item they had there. I had a major geekgasm just seeing it in pictures of the auction. Oddly the Mk 7 viper didn’t interest me as much. It’s totally the mk 2’s that I would have loved to touch. It kinda serves as a link to the older series of my childhood as well as a major part of the current one (I mean, Kara’s would have been perfect).

Now… did they happen to also sell Apollo’s towel?

  8. Adam Says:

I have to say that I watched about 2/3 of the auction. Ryan did a great job as I knew he would. The Auction Network should be very proud of the job he did, I know I was! The Battlestar Prometheus is a great piece of fan fiction that everyone should support. Fan fiction will keep a part of this universe we all love alive! Wherever you check out the Battlestar Prometheus you won’t be disappointed.

As some of you know I couldn’t attend the Frak Party due to a tragic and untimely passing in my family, however, I have come to expect and rely on BSGCast to get us in close and personal. Matt and Nat you two never cease to amaze me with how you get us inside this wonderful BSG world. To be able to actually see this stuff and be able to have tactile touch of these items must bring such an awesome sense of reality.

I couldn’t be there but the BSGCast surely makes me feel like I was. These videos are certainly turning what was a devastating weekend into a ray of light! Thanks guys!

  9. Jinx Says:

I wish I had some money and a nice big house – some of those items would have been awesome. I liked Ryan’s idea of a Resurrection Pod jacuzzi – just get in, soak, and geek out! Were those ships being auctioned also? Amazing. Good for someone with a lot of money and a lot of spare room!

It’s a sad moment, really, to see these items being auctioned off. It means things really are over. If they even get it in their heads to make future flashback episodes (like Razor) or anything of the sort, they have to start over from scratch. That’s an expensive proposition. So I guess this is it, outside of spin-offs like Caprica or the Cavil/Tyrol thing coming up.

And that Saul Tigh! Always drunk and stumbling around! Seriously, tho, Michael Hogan seems like the nicest, most down to earth person ever. In one of the scifi broadcasts a user asked him, if he ever met Saul in real life, if he’d give him a drink or hide under the table, and Michael said, “Both.” I can just see the two of them sprawled out under a table, drunk off their asses, and having some amazing conversation about how BSG has screwed with them over the years.

  10. Proud Army Wife Says:

I am so proud of you Ryan. I have known you for 10 years now and I can’t say enough good about you and your wonderful family. Ryan and I were stationed in the Army together and through the thick and the thin I must say you are everybit the man today as you were when we first met.

Thank you for the shout out for my husband SFC John Elliott who is currently deployed to Iraq right now. Lord willing he will be home soon and it meant a lot to hear you talking about him live.

Keep your head held high. That’s where it should be. Your making your dreams a reality and I wish nothing but the best for you, Dori, Zack, RJ and Miss Angel.

I love you guys! Retirement bound…whooo hoooo!!

  11. Tootie Says:

atari_age Says: “Now… did they happen to also sell Apollo’s towel?”

HAHAHA – I would totally bid EVERY EXTRA PENNY I HAVE FOR THAT!

    This comment should win, hahahaa

  12. Tootie Says:

I meant the original atari_age comment should win!

  13. Ryan Keeton Says:

Hey guys! I cannot begin to tell you what an honor it was to be selected as the guest commentator for the Auction Network. The guys I worked with were true professionals and I learned so much from them.

What was also a great time was hanging out with all you mother frakkers at the premier! All of you are wonderful friends!

And sorry Atari, the towel was no where to be seen. I would imagine that if it HAD been there we would have had armed guards for it because of all the female fans drooling over it!

Great to see you all again and I look forward to working more with you in the future.

  14. Col. Daryl James Says:

  15. Rolling Hard Six Says:

    Apollo’s towel.
I think that Ron Moore auctioned that one off for charity a while back along with dinner.

  16. atari_age Says:

@Rolling Hard Six: Ah! You are correct! (Moore’s blog entry about this here Includes a similar picture as from the episode, but not the actual one. Same effect, I figure). OTOH, he only mentions the towels are worn, but not by whom and when. Of course, try identifying the towel… I mean, except for who used it, it’s just a white towel.

  17. HIRH Says:

Amazing. I would have loved to be there! Thanks for sharing it with us!

  18. EZCYLON Says:

please see “Ellen…What about Ellen?” under “sometimes a great notion.”
