It is upon us.

It’s taken almost a year, but the Direct-To-DVD release of Caprica has finally given way to the airing of it as parts 1 and 2 on SyFy as a regular season of television! We’ve got to say that with the Blood, Boobies and Human Sacrifice that we’ve been privy to seeing so far, it looks like Ron Moore managed to skirt the TV-Gods and Censors quite elegantly by releasing in on DVD first, but what did YOU think of the televised version? There have been quite a few times in his podcasts that he mentioned how the TV version of a Battlestar Episode wasn’t quite his ideal cut (for either time or network restrictions) but with Caprica available for first viewing as an unspoiled DVD version, we’ve already seen what Ron wants us to see… so we’re excited to get the regular reason underway!

Battlestar is over, long live Caprica!

Jane Espenson and Edward James Olmos were the people in charge on this one: Olmos was there for every episode that went into making The Plan happen in Season 2, and Jane was there for none of them and it shows. Amazing direction, performances, visuals compliment a story that fires on all cylinders for 30 minutes and then lumbers through the rest of the first two seasons with about as much grace as a Cylon Colony.

But goddam, Dean Stockwell was delicious as F-Cavil and C-Cavil on their respective journeys and those Colonies got it good!

Make sure to leave a comment and tell us what YOU thought of The Plan, and don’t forget to enter to win “Dinner with the Admiral” compliments of Edward James Olmos and UGO!

About a month after BSG comes to an end, Caprica will be on DVD on April 21, according to SciFi.com.

Take a look at this SciFi.com exclusive clip of Caprica… in the same way that Battlestar managed to bring fans of Military Drama into watching a space opera, it DEFINITELY feels like Ron and the gang are snagging a whole different crowd to join us in the Science Fiction club with Caprica:

Thanks to everyone who stopped us and said hi while were rocking out SAVE BALTAR T-Shirts at the show! Aaron was pretty taken aback by Nat in hers

We’re pretty excited about this one:

–

SCI FI Channel announced an all-new “Battlestar Galactica” special event, set to air in 2009 following the conclusion of the series and then released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment shortly thereafter. Directed by series star Edward James Olmos and written by “Battlestar Galactica’s” Jane Espenson, the two-hour event will begin shooting in Vancouver at the end of this summer. The cast includes Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas and Dean Stockwell, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Starting before the events of the miniseries, our story focuses on familiar characters including Cylon Number One, known as Cavil (Stockwell), Resistance Leader Sam T. Anders (Trucco) and Chief Galen Tyrol (Douglas). In the beginning, the Cylons had a plan, but it didn’t account for one thing: survivors. During the chaotic aftermath of the destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and priorities on the human ships that got away, and among the resistance fighters who were left behind.

–

We don’t know about you guys, but Aaron Douglas looks pretty damn different than he did in 2003… but everyone else could pull off a prequel pretty easily. And having Eddie direct it is perfect… we’ll have to ask him about in this month at FanExpo Toronto!

Thanks to Pavlov’s Dog for posting it in the comments yesterday!
