Must say, I love the new look site!
Long time listener, first time writer here! Just wanted to say that you guys are brilliant in your analysis and break down of each episode. It serves as a great supplement to each episode.
I’m from Australia, and apparently the TV networks here have far much better shows to air, like ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and ‘Australian Survivor’ – to have room to air BSG! They wouldn’t know a good quality show if it start dry humping them! We only got half of season 2 before they pulled it off! Not fair! But enough of my complaining. Thank the lords for the internet!
I would have to agree with Nat here and say that the whole ‘accent’ thing is a little too weak and perhaps convenient to confirm someone’s origin. Do all Arelon’s speak like that? I haven’t yet heard that accent before in the show. And what accent is Baltar speaking now? Not Caprican, since they all seem to be American. As for Lucy Lawless, she actually has a New Zealand accent, not Australian. So where the heck was she ‘supposed’ to be from?
Anyway, I’ve ranted on enough. I’m soooo looking forward to the next few episodes. Kara Thrace rules! It just wouldn’t be the same if she were to leave!!!
PS: My money is on Gaeta being the mystery Cylon!

Good to hear from you [K] [T]! And we’re glad you enjoy the show and the new site!
Yeah, we feel your pain about crap cable providers… we get a really FUBAR feed of Battlestar Galactica up here in Canada… it’s on time, but it’s glitched and miserable on our Canadian version of Sci-Fi called “The Space Network”. So we cancelled cable and we’ve been downloading season 3 with an American iTunes account instead. It looks so much crisper and we don’t worry about commercials!
Sorry about the Aussie/Kiwi slip up… we get our Canadian accent mistaken for a US one whenever we travel, and all my New Zealand friends say we all sound the same down there!

He’s definitely one of the ones that I think would be interesting if he were a cylon because he’s so brilliant and mysterious, but who knows…if Lucy Lawless’ apology before she died was a meaningful line, and she truely was apologizing, does she have a reason to apologize to Gaeta? Perhaps she felt bad for him because he was President Baltar’s RH man and they put the humans through hell?

Now if the writers want to have hearts exploding amongst their audience – they’ll make Lee Adama a Cylon. Could you image a room full of shirtless Apollos! Sorry I’m getting distracted here! Now THAT would certainly make good TV! hahahaha!
Oh and on a side note. A lot of people are saying that certain characters can’t be a cylon because they have children, or because they have a big history. That’s not necessarily true. Who is to say that during one of the missions, or even during the occupation that one of these characters was kidnapped and replaced with a Cylon model thats been in hiding all this time. For all we know the real Admiral Adama could be held captive on a Base Star somewhere… spooky though hey?

Yep, we’ve only been at it since the mid-season break for third season. We’re tossing around the idea of working our way backward over the break between seasons 3 and 4… since the break starts in April, and we’ve got 9 months until Season 4.

So, I meant to respond earlier but I got a little caught up with the Starbuck hooplah. Anyhow love the new layout guys, thanks for fixing it! I love the comments page better as well. Now, on with it right?
As far as accents go I think it’s fair to say that people can be divided based on it. I just don’t think it’s that prevalent in American society unless you’re Southern.
If you think about it you can tell someone is from Europe if they have an English accent or an Irish accent. And they can tell Americans right off based on how we sound. I know I myself am from the mid-west and when I visit NYC they claim I have this accent. I don’t hear it but apparently they do. Enough to pick it out.
Another thing I like to keep in mind is just because we haven’t seen it in the world of BSG doesn’t mean it’s not true. We’ve basically expanded on the snapshot we’ve had of the fleet over the past few seasons. Now that the cylons aren’t attacking every second we can expand on these worlds so we can become more attached. S1 was fast paced, escape from the cylons. We didn’t have a chance to worry about where they were from, or what culture they had to offer because we were so worried about them even surviving. It was tunnel vision of a sort.
S2 came and then we wanted to know more about our beloved characters because they weren’t on the edge of dying. Not only that, with Adama being shot by Boomer it was just a rocket ride to “OMG is Adama going to be ok. The fleet can’t survive without him.”
I’m a writer myself, and I know that sometimes when writing my characters will just surprise me with something. So I can’t see why it wouldn’t happen to BSG writers. I still think that Baltar learning a new accent shows just how capable and cunning he is. This man has pulled himself up out of the dirt to become a brilliant doctor only to watch his sanity splinter and his relationship with people grow more distant.
He looked lonely on Caprica, and Caprica six while alluring was providing him with what he needed most. Someone to care about him.
Anyhow, now onto Starbuck. I can’t wait to see the treatment you give my favorite character!

I was searching iTunes for a good BSG podcast and while I’m not much for videocasts I made a well deserved exception for yours, cuz well honestly its quite awesome. I also never came across a Canadian I didn’t like
so mix that in with some great discussion, great opinions and great setup and you got yourself an instant fan. It’s also so refreshing that you guys don’t always agree with each other because with practically every other bsg podcast I had to wade through, to find this one, were kind of painful, especially for the lack of intelligent, carefully thought out conclusions.
I love it that Nat doesn’t like Cally and Matt does and if all your vidcasts are as well structured as your last, in terms of breaking down the episode, then I look forward with anticipation to your ‘Maelstrom’ cast which features my favorite all time character Starbuck
I don’t mean for this to being bold it’s just a tiny suggestion; is there any chance you guys could mention what your favorite moment was for the eps, not back dated just going forward and not necessarily in the casts themselves, the comment section would be just as cool.

Thanks so much for the kind words about our little show! It’s nice to hear we rack up pretty high on the list of podcast options when it comes to BSG commentary!
Nat and I would be more than happy to make a quick note of our absolute highlight moments for each episode. Personally, I’d say that from a detail/nerd aspect, mine was that quick moment when Starbuck put her hand on the ejection seat release just before the Viper exploded. But really, I’d say the most resonant moment in the entire episode was the very last scene, when Adama was placing the Aurora figurine onto his Naval model, and he just burst out in frustration and rage. Olmos just nailed the emotion in that so much. I was more sad for his mourning than I was sad for Starbuck’s death. It was beautiful.
And don’t worry, suggestions are ALWAYS appreciated, one of the favourite segments of the show, Fan of the Week, was a suggestion from one of our very first viewers, actually!

blip.tv is the best one. big picture, doesn’t ask me to store local information (which i always deny) and doesn’t have buffering problems like revver..

some suggestions:
1. use your domain, and not http://216.194.68.45/bsgcast.com/ . it will prevent problems with bookmarking specific posts, external links, and probably other problems.
2. link the header image to the main page. basic usability.
3. instead of moderating comments, use a good spam filter. it will save you a lot of work.

We like Blip.tv best too… easier viewing experience when it’s at the right aspect ratio. Our only problem is that as of now, they don’t seem to make iPod versions availble on the RSS feed. Maybe we’ll experiment with uploading an iPod version instead of a regular mov file this week and see what happens!

Kaotic_Theory mentioned never hearing that accent before on the show. Actually, Baltar used it briefly in the 1st season (KLG,pt.1) when he was drunk and playing cards with Apollo (he was pissed that Kara called out Lee’s name in bed). It was a quick little slip-up on his part, and Head-Six berated him for the mistake, saying he sounded “common.”
Also, K_T forwarded the possibility that Adama was captured and replaced by Folger’s Crystals, er, a cylon double. Here’s an even more interesting theory: consider that the prequel spin-off “Caprica” is a go, or so I’ve heard. The rumor I read said the show will revolve around characters from two Caprican families, one of which is the Adamas. What if William Adama himself was one of the first human models, and was adopted to protect the secret? D’anna would certainly have plenty of reasons to apologize to him then.

Новый способ давления на кандидата на пост Главы г. Химки
Новый способ “наказать” тех, кто посмел участвовать в выборной кампании не на стороне действующей власти изобрели правоохранительные органы г.о. Химки.
Руководствуясь не нормой закона, а чьей-то “волей” сотрудники милиции решили “проверить” все фирмы, внесшие денежные средства в избирательный фонд неудобных кандидатов.
Начались “проверки” с телефонных звонков – где директор, сколько человек работает на фирме. После чего последовали “письма счастья” с просьбой предоставить всю бухгалтерскую документацию, учредительные документы фирмы, и даже, план экспликации БТИ.
Такие запросы химкинским фирмам рассылает 1 отдел Оперативно-розыскной части № 9 Управления по налоговым преступлениям ГУВД Московской области за подписью начальника подполковника милиции Д.В. Языкова.
И всё это в то время, когда Президент дал прямое указание правоохранительным органам о прекращении всех незаконных проверок малого и среднего бизнеса. С это целью внесены изменения в Федеральный закон “О милиции” – из статьи 11 этого закона исключены пункты 25 и 35, на основании которых ранее правоохранительные органы имели право проверять финансово-хозяйственную деятельность предприятий.
Видно, об изменениях действующего законодательства местные правоохранительные органы не уведомлены. И не смотрят телепередачи с выступлениями Президента.
Может быть, эта публикация подвигнет их к исполнению указаний Президента, а также к изучению и соблюдению действующего законодательства
